Honestly, I'd be willing to bet the Nets win a game before the Colts... just saying. Also, if the Packers go undefeated, I will not look at you like this sh*t gravy. I will be pissed.

Edit: I stand corrected. Colts are no longer winless and Packers are no longer undefeated. Today is a good day.

Some Thoughts

I have never found the pineapple on an episode of Psych

If a man made of iron tried to do an Ironman, I think he'd have some trouble on the swimming portion... maybe the bike part too. Iron Man would probably do well in an Ironman though. However, like a man made of iron, he would probably be too heavy for a traditional tri bike. He would probably have to invent something special, but I think Tony Stark would be up to the challenge.

frogs are really cute. Also, adult frogs are cuter than tadpoles.

I just used the word 'cute'. That seemed so unnatural.

I've been trying to catch a fly in my apartment all week. I finally got it today, but seeing the squished fly body on my hand was nowhere near as satisfying as I imagined it to be.

I think I do to many things by myself (i.e. going to the movies, shopping, playing video games, watching television, etc.). As a result, I'm socially awkward when I do similar things with groups of people. I'm not saying that I'm utterly hopeless around other people or anything like that, but I'm definitely a little out of my element in group activities. If socializing was a class, I would probably get a C+... and I'm talking about a regular class, not a an AP class or an honors class.

My tea is warm, but not hot.

Why does that Kanye interview automatically play whenever I open my blog? I'm listening to him talk about how he can't put porn in his music videos as I type. I should un-embed the video and just post the link instead. I'll get around to that... eventually.

Shouts out to my favorite Lion

In case you didn't know, the Detroit Lions have a 5-0 record right now. And, as you would expect with any undefeated team, the bandwagon is looking pretty crowded. For the record, I have nothing against these fair-weather fans (I certainly wasn't digging out my Lions cap when they were 0-16). However, I do think it would behoove these new-found followers to familiarize themselves with a little bit of Detroit Lions history. For this reason, I thought I'd post a few videos of the great Barry Sanders.

Even in 8 bit form, Barry was still a beast:

Go Green! Go... Bronze?

I may be a Sun Devil, but I'll always have a little Spartan in me. Because of that, I was particularly offended when I saw Michigan State's atrocious new 2011 Nike Pro Combat football uniforms.

Generally, I'm a fan of the pro-combat stuff, but Nike does have a tendency to buck tradition in favor of cool colorways and graphics. I think that's the case here. Since when was "bronze" one of MSU's color's? I think the fight song explicitly says, "fight for the only colors: Green and White!". Those are supposed to be the only freaking colors! They didn't even include white at all. If I didn't know better, I would think that these were Baylor's jerseys.

Above all, what pisses me off the most is the fact that they're wearing these when they play University of Michigan. Who goes into a rivalry game without their school colors? Next thing you know, we'll be in neon yellow like Oregon. Leonidas wouldn't take this crap.

Here's an article and more pictures if you're in to that type of thing: http://www.solecollector.com/niketraining/?p=5777

Carts of Darkness

"Every time that you put effort into work and you're making a little bit of money, you better have a very good plan of what you're going to do with that money because you're using up your life"

Basically, you shouldn't work out of greed and lust for money. Instead, you should work as a means to finance your specific goals and desires. Unless you are truly passionate about your work, the real substance of your life exists outside of the office and off the clock. Make this aspect of your life your first and highest priority.

The quote is from the documentary film, Carts of Darkness. It's advertised as (e.g. I interpreted the summary as) an inside look at extreme grocery cart riding in Vancouver. Although much of the film centers around this activity, it's really focuses on the lives of several can collectors and the relationship that develops between them and the author. Although it's more personal and less focused than most documentaries, it was deeply moving and insightful.

Here's a link so you can check it out for yourself: Carts of Darkness

p.s. even if you don't watch the movie, you should think about the quote. I agree with the overall message, but that's just my opinion. Do you think that this type of attitude should be encouraged? Do you think that western society is conducive or unconducive to this type of attitude?

3 reasons to watch the Tour de France

Before this year, I never payed too much attention to the Tour de France. To me, it was just some bike race that was always on Versus during the summer. However, during the last few weeks, I've really gotten into it and have found it very interesting to watch. If my vague testimonial isn't enough to convince you to watch the Tour de France, maybe one of these three reasons will do the trick:

1. It's on all day, every day
this is a slight exaggeration, but each stage is on tv for about two-and-a-half hours. This is pretty comparable to any other sporting event except for the fact that the tour doesn't have half-time. Also, because there are twenty-one stages, that's a solid three weeks of action. If you're looking for something to fill the void of summer boredom, spending 2-3 hours a day for three weeks watching the tour is a great option.

2. Crashes
People watch NASCAR for wrecks, NHL for fights, and boxing/UFC stuff for knock-outs. These certainly aren't the only reasons that people watch these sports, but they can't be ignored or discounted. Similarly, crashes are an ever-present threat and attraction of the Tour de France. While I hope and pray that all the participants in the tour finish safely and crash free, if a massive pileup occurs or a rider takes a wide turn and ends up flipping over his handlebars, I can't say that I'll look away... and I'll probably watch the replay.

3. There's no other sports on
the NFL, NBA and NHL seasons are over (hopefully the NFL and NBA come back next season) so baseball, golf and tennis are the only other sports to watch. If these three sports leave you feeling unsatisfied, maybe you need some Tour de France in your life.

If none of these reasons can convince you, you're probably doing something else meaningful with your summer. For the rest of you people, make sure to check out the Tour de France... it's not like you have anything better to do.

p.s. Lance Armstrong is not racing this year so stop asking about him.

Today was a good day

The video above is for Ice Cube's song, "Today Was A Good Day". In this song, Cube describes one of the best days of all time; He is successful at basketball, dice games and courting women. Also, he gets a shout-out from the Goodyear Blimp (It reads, "Ice Cube's a Pimp"). You may be thinking, "Nothing can top this. Ice cube just had the ultimate "good day". While I respect your opinion (that you may or may not actually hold. I'm just assuming that this is your opinion), I must disagree. The reason for my difference in opinion is that I have just experienced a day that was far better than anything Ice Cube rapped about.

The first great part of my day was skipping Ancient Philosophy. That class is boring and I enjoy my day more when I don't attend it. As if my morning wasn't good enough already, shortly after I decided to skip class, I found a banana in my room. Bananas are delicious and it's awesome when you notice them chillin' on your printer. Next, I got dressed and headed to my second (and final) class of the day. Last Tuesday, I wrote a paper for this class and we were supposed to get it back today. At first, I was nervous because I didn't think I submitted a very clear and polished product to my professor. However, this feeling quickly subsided because, to my surprise/delight, I got a frickin' A! How cool is that? After class, I went back to my room and watched PTI on ESPN. That show is awesome and it makes any day good. Later, I went to the barbershop because I was seriously in need of a haircut. The barbershop was easy to find and I got a fresh line-up and shape-up for a good price. This may seem insignificant, but it's important to look good if you want to have a "good day". After the barbershop, I went to Chick-fil-A. My Chicken sandwich and chicken strips were super delicious and there was no line. Later, I watched some college hoops and found another banana in my backpack (I know... two in one day? That's madness!). Finally, I went to Scottsdale Community College and ran the Scottsdale Open Mile. It was the easiest 4:35 mile I've ever run and I got first freakin' place! Take that, Ice-Cube!

p.s. also, I had some strawberry-blueberry cake and a pop-tart.

p.p.s. I know this is probably an ungrammatical, stream-of-consciousness mess, but it is now 12:01 and my good day is over so I probably don't have the mojo to awesomeize (I just made that word up) my post into something that is legible.
